About PiVT Lab

At PiVT Lab, we recognize that life is constantly changing and we are constantly changing. Fighting this change results in us ramming into walls and staying stuck. We’ve been there too, and that’s why our mission is to support individuals and teams with the necessary tools and strategies to pivot and adapt well. It all comes down to you being empowered by taking actions that align with who you are and what you want. Our evidence-based coaching helps you discover that what you have right in front of you (and within you) can be workable.

Our core values guide everything we do at PiVT Lab: Courage, Connection, and Care. We’re all about living in the arena, having difficult conversations, being authentic and holding one another accountable, leading with curiosity and compassion and doing the “little things” with integrity. We believe that through courageous self-reflection, growth-fostering relationships, and radical ownership, we can ALL better understand and care for ourselves, others, and the world we live in.

About Maddie

My pivot began after a series of back injuries ended my collegiate basketball career and my physical, mental, and social health went down the gutter. I became acutely aware of the stress of major transitions, the cost of always doing what I thought I “should” do, and the lack of proactive and preventative healthcare. This experience lit a fire in me.

After rethinking my path, I secured a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in addition to my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. I worked in a private therapy practice and as a lead counselor at the Cleveland Clinic, where I implemented behavioral healthcare in sports-camp settings to help families and individuals thrive. It became clear to me that we can utilize our mind, our body, and our relationships to improve our health and lives at large.

My coaching framework is informed by these experiences and is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, humanistic psychology, and Relational-Cultural Theory (RCT). I work in affiliation with Dr. Oscar McKnight and am honored to have worked alongside and be mentored by Dr. Judith Jordan, a developer of RCT and former professor at Harvard Medical School. Judy reminds me why my work with clients is relational: Because in my life, I’ve grown in and through relationships. I’ve done NOTHING on an island. People make what I do worth doing.

Life and work blend really beautifully for me. You can find me in a gym, somewhere near water, or at a coffee shop. When I am not “working,” I am probably walking my dog (a 90 pounder named Nugget) and embracing the magic powers of chips and guac. Oh, and here’s a pic from that one time I met Jason Sudeikis.

Cheers!
